How to Maintain Vacuum Pumps: A Practical Routine

Vacuum pump maintenance

Most premature vacuum pump failures trace back to small issues that were visible long in advance. A simple daily routine catches them early: check the oil level through the sight glass, watch the oil colour (milky oil means water contamination), listen for unusual noise, and feel whether the pump casing runs hotter than usual.

On a periodic basis, change the pump oil at the interval recommended for your duty — dirty or emulsified oil loses lubricity and attacks internal surfaces. Clean or replace the exhaust filter and inlet filter, inspect couplings and belts, and check seals for leakage. Record every service action; a pump's history tells you when the next problem is coming.

For workshops running multiple pumps, Boao provides maintenance guidance and spare parts for all delivered units. Following a disciplined routine, our customers routinely run rotary vane pumps for tens of thousands of hours between overhauls.
