Safety Precautions for Vacuum Pump Maintenance

Maintenance work itself is where many pumps — and people — get hurt. Before opening any pump, make sure it is shut down properly: vent the pump and the connected system to atmospheric pressure, disconnect and lock out the power supply, and allow hot oil and surfaces to cool before draining.
Use the oil grade specified by the manufacturer; mixing incompatible oils can gel and block oil passages. Never run a rotary vane pump with the inlet closed for long periods — sealed "blank-off" operation overheats the pump. When working in humid environments, open the gas ballast to avoid condensation in the oil.
Cleanliness matters as much as safety. Any dust entering the pump during reassembly becomes a future scoring risk on vane and cylinder surfaces. Work on a clean bench, cap open ports, and use lint-free cloths. When in doubt, Boao's service team supports customers with disassembly guidance and original spare parts.
